Polifarmacia segun un canadiense

No disease has ever been proved to be caused by deficiency of a drug.
Treatment of existing lifestyle disease and infectious may require
drug treatment but when discussing the Polypill we are considering
PRIMARY prevention. There is ample evidence that primary prevention
of atherosclerosis, hypertension and Type 2 diabetes does not require
drugs and that a belief in panaceas may actually exacerbate the problem.

Even for many infectious diseases lifestyle change is crucial. For
example, the pandemic of tuberculosis began to abate long before the
existence of anti-TB drugs due to improvements in living standards,
probably less crowded housing being the major factor.

Medical care (doctors and hospitals) will always be necessary for
palliation of those catastrophic diseases that cannot be prevented
but incurs a huge cost compared to prevention.

The reduction in death rates from heart attacks and strokes in most
Western countries began in the late 1960s, many years before coronary
bypasses, statins, clopidogrel and ACEI's mostly due to changes in
lifestyle, like reduction in smoking and improvement in diet.
